American Melody Carriages

Belle was a gorgeous, playful, and sweet Percheron mare, affectionately known as "The Princess" or "Princess Belle" because of her elegant walk, arched neck, and her regal beauty. She was lovingly laid to rest, and buried under her favorite shade tree in December 2022 at the age of 28 years. Percherons originated in France, where they were bred as war horses and later used to pull stagecoaches. Known for their serious work ethic, they are likely the most popular draft breed in the United States, used for pulling, forestry work, and crossing on light breeds such as thoroughbreds to create riding horses.
Belle was the carriage horse for many weddings, parades, and other events. She worked many years in downtown Nashville for other carriage companies, and also did carriage rides at Opryland Hotel. She enjoyed occasional trail rides, and also did many lead around rides for friends and neighbors. One of her favorite things was rolling in the mud to become a horse of a different color! She was deeply loved, and is thereby deeply missed.
